This is a sad day for both gamers and Midway Games. Midway filed for bankruptcy back in 2009 and has just recently released a gameplay video of a really interesting game they were working on titled "Hero". It was going to be an open-world game where you could make your own hero with plenty of awesome powers. While watching the video, I got a Infamous-meets-Crackdown vibe from it.
Dark, open world environment? Check. Lots of ways to tackle missions? Check. Thousands of possibilities for individual characters? Check. Summoning a gravity vortex to take out everything within a 10-foot radius? Check.
Let's see the video and shed a tear for Midway Games.
But this story isn't all bad! It was also announced that Phosphor Games would make a spiritual successor to Hero entitled "Awakened". So far, it seems like they're doing their best to make this game everything that Hero would've been.
